1. How to manufacture coconut shell activated carbon?

The sources of activated carbon are mostly , coal (anthracite, bituminous, lignite), coconut shells, peat and petroleum based residues. Raw materials are collected from coconut meat processing business. Then burned in anaerobic environments.

The coconut shell charcoal is activated by reaction with steam at a temperature of 900oC -1100oC under controlled atmosphere in a rotary kiln. The reaction between steam and charcoal takes place at the internal surface area, creating more sites for adsorption.

The activated cacbon is pushed into the cooling pit and brought to the floor rails to classify different particle sizes and taken away.
